Glass fusing creative retreat for Lent
Focus your mind and take time out on our glass fusing creative retreat for Lent.
What’s a Lent retreat?
It’s an opportunity during Lent for two days of glass fusing, prayer and reflection, in our Chilham studio. It’s near Canterbury and Ashford, and on the Pilgrims’ Way long distance path from Winchester to Canterbury. Why not walk part of the footpath and break your journey with us?
It’s a great opportunity to put last year behind you and spend a couple of days of quality time with God and a few other people, exploring the creativity that you might or might not have discovered yet!
You’ll spend a morning learning to break glass in the ways that you want and then using those new-found skills to create a design using float (window) glass. You’ll then have the opportunity to create something colourful using Bullseye fusing glass. It’s up to you whether you’d like to make several items or whether you’d prefer to focus on making one bigger / more detailed creation. Your glass can be tack fused, to keep its texture, or full fused to give a smooth finish.
If you like, you can make something 3D such as a curved panel to stand in front of a candle, a bowl or saucer (e.g. to hold a candle or perhaps water & prayer pebbles)
But I have to work at weekends…
We understand completely!!! That’s why we’ve arranged your glass fusing creative retreat for a Thursday and Friday and avoided Holy Week too.
Do I have to be a Christian?
You don’t have to have a Christian faith to join us; while we’ll be using the prayers from “Celtic Daily Prayer” (a non denominational Christian prayer book), prayer is entirely optional, not compulsory.
The cost of the two day retreat is £190 which includes your raw materials, the use of the studio & equipment, refreshments and lunches both days. If you’d like to stay in the village, our “where to stay” page lists some B&Bs, hotels and self catering accommodation that might fit the bill; you’re free to arrange this separately.
