A fused glass fern being made on a one day course with Creative Retreats and Holidays

Make your own fused glass for house and garden

Make your own fused glass for house and garden on this one day class in our sunny Chilham studio.

Fancy a glass flower or sculpture that’ll stay colourful all year round? Or perhaps a suncatcher to hang from a branch or in a window? We’ll teach you how to bring your design to life, make it and put it into our kiln for fusing.

A generous quantity of materials (including Bullseye fusing glass), lunch and refreshments are included. You’ll impress yourself with what you can create! Artistic ability is useful but by no means essential.

If you’ve not played with glass before, don’t worry. We’ll teach you and soon have you cutting with confidence. You can even make something beautiful without cutting glass at all! We have a wide range of colourful sheet glass, frit, stringers (think “glass spaghetti”) and more. Come and be spoiled for choice.

What can I make?

On your fused glass for house and garden day, you can make decorations to hang from your trees, glass flowers or a sculpture to go in your garden (or a vase indoors), coasters for that chilled glass of prosecco or G&T, nibbles dishes, a fruit bowl, window hangings… the only limit is your imagination! The choice is yours; make several smaller items or one item up to 17 x 17cm in size.

Your glass will be fused after your course and can be collected or posted to you (this typically costs around £8 depending on its size & weight).

What about lunch?

We provide that too! Typically it’ll be soup and home-made bread plus fruit & / or yoghurt to follow, but this can vary. If you’re pescatarian, veggie, vegan, gluten-free or have other dietary requirements, just let us know well in advance.

I hear a rumour that you serve really nice coffee. Is it true?

We’d like to think so! Our decaffeinated coffee comes from the Decadent Decaf Coffee Company in Littlehampton. Our regular coffee is a fair trade “taste the difference” Columbian (subject to availability). Tea drinkers are well looked after too, and in summer you could even have mint tea plucked straight from the garden!
