Creative glass fusing workshop in Kent- a taster day of the perfect new hobby for 2021

Join us in our light and airy glass studio in the pretty countryside village of Chilham for a creative glass fusing workshop in Kent. If you’re looking for a new creative hobby, this could be just the thing! It’s a great way of trying it out with no big commitment. We provide all of the tools, the raw materials & the kiln. You can even have a look at our Facebook page (or Pinterest or Instagram) and get some ideas too!

What if I’ve never worked with glass before?

We’ll teach you to cut glass with confidence, don’t worry. We’ll give you an idea of what happens in the kiln as well. For a more in depth look at kiln firing, one of our improvers’ courses would be a great next step.

How long is the course and when does it start?

Your day will run from 10am to around 5pm, starting with tea, coffee & pastries and including lunch.

You’ll go home enthused (hopefully!) and looking forward to getting your fused glass back around a week later – you can either collect it or we’ll post it to you at cost (currently £7 including lots of padding to keep your precious creations safe).

How many friends can I bring?

The government hope to relax rules on social distancing in late June. After that we’ll be able to welcome up to six people to this creative glass fusion workshop in Kent. If we have to continue social distancing, the maximum class size will be four people, to keep you all safe (unless you’re all from the same household).

What can I make?

We give you pretty free reign as to what you can make. Popular choices are coasters, small bowls suitable for nibbles or as soap dishes, “coral” fruit bowls, window hangings, suncatchers and glass pictures to frame and hang on your wall.

We’re generous with materials here (which is why our courses aren’t the cheapest). Included in the cost of the course is enough glass to make something up to 20 x 20cm out of Bullseye fusing glass (or several smaller things). It also includes plenty of float (window) glass for your first – practise – creation. If you’re keen to make something bigger, you can buy extra glass from us. Or you can come back again for a further one- or two-day class or perhaps join our weekly evening classes. (Our weekly daytime class is very popular and has a waiting list – people seldom want to leave!)

We run taster glass fusion classes regularly through the year (pandemics permitting), so if this date doesn’t suit you, have a look at our “Dates & booking” page to find alternative dates.
