Hand-crafted narrowboat stained glass panel made by Gorgeous Glass Gifts.
What could be better after a day of “messing about in boats” than to tie up your narrowboat on the canal bank or river bank in the middle of nowhere, open a bottle of something and watch as day turns into dusk? Songbirds give way to the hoot of owls and on a clear night, the stars light up the sky.
This leaded narrowboat stained glass panel brings back memories of happy boating holidays on the rivers and canals of Great Britain. It was inspired by a photo that I took beside the River Weaver, near Frodsham in Cheshire, but it could easily reflect lots of beautiful waterside spots in the UK.
Details in the panel were painted with traditional glass paint and fired onto the glass in a kiln to make the paint permanent. The windows have been hand engraved. Finally the eleven pieces of glass have been assembled in lead came and soldered, before polishing and adding a hanging chain.
Being an evening view, this panel looks best when back lit, so I’d suggest hanging it in a window or in front of a light source.
The panel measures 31cm wide by 23cm tall, not including the hanging chain.
