Copper foil stained glass weekend experience for beginners and improvers, £190 pp

Our copper foil stained glass weekend experience could be just what you need to look forward to!

Join us for some socially distanced creativity on a copper foil stained glass weekend experience with us this February. Let us shake the winter blues away and introduce you to the wonderful world of stained glass (or give you the chance to expand your skills if you’ve done it before).

N.B. In the unlikely case of another lockdown, there’s a slight chance that this course may need to be rescheduled. If so, any bookings affected can be rearranged to suit you, or refunded in full.

We’re still limiting numbers to a maximum of 4 customers, to ensure that social distancing can be maintained & so that people can feel safe. Please contact us if you have a group of 5 people who’d like to come together & we can organise a separate course for you.

This copper foil stained glass weekend experience is perfect for beginners and those with a little experience that they’d like to build on. Make the most of your weekend with us. Why not visit Kent & enjoy a Kent staycation! (See our “where to stay” page if you’d like to book accommodation nearby.)

You can choose whether to make a Tiffany stained glass suncatcher (e.g. we’ve had some beautiful birds made on our courses) or a more regularly shaped panel (e.g. a square, circle or rectangle).

What’s involved?

If you’re new to stained glass, we’ll also teach you to cut and shape glass with confidence.

Next you get to design your own stained glass cartoon (template), so your creation will be completely unique. (If this sounds scary, you can bring a few that you’ve seen elsewhere, to help you, as the student in our photo did.) In two days you’ll have time to make either a suncatcher or a panel containing up to ten pieces of glass- it takes longer than you think!

Then choose from our wide range of coloured glass & cut it to size and shape before learning the “Tiffany” technique of applying copper foil. This is really relaxing when you get the hang of it.

You’ll then solder your panel together. You can choose whether to leave the solder its natural silvery colour or use a patina to make it coppery again or black.

What will I take home with me?

You will make either a suncatcher or a decorative panel up to A4 in size, with up to ten pieces. The shape is entirely up to you. People with previous experience can make a more complex panel or something with more pieces. Recent students have made some beautiful swans; landscapes and sunsets are always popular too.

What’s included in the cost?

The cost of £190 includes materials and use of all necessary tools, together with lunches and refreshments both days. Special diets can be catered for if you let us know in advance. Please bring your own face covering.

Can I bring my children?

Sorry, but the lead in the solder means that this course isn’t suitable for under 18s (or pregnant ladies either). Do have a look at our glass applique / stained glass mosaic courses or our glass fusing courses instead, as these are lead free. Thanks.
