Tiffany stained glass for Christmas – two day course for beginners and improvers

Tiffany stained glass for Christmas two day course 10am to 5pm (approx.); £150 per person.

This copper foiled stained glass course is perfect for beginners and those with a little experience that they’d like to build on. You can choose whether to make a Tiffany stained glass suncatcher (it’s up to you whether you make something Christmassy out of glass) or a more regularly shaped panel (e.g. a square or a rectangle). You might like to make some decorations to pass down through the generations, or make a special gift for someone.

What’s involved?

If you’re new to stained glass, we’ll teach you to cut and shape glass with confidence.

Next you get to design your own stained glass cartoon (template), so your creation will be completely unique. (We do have some Christmas designs that you can use if you like.) In two days you’ll have time to make either a suncatcher or a panel containing up to ten pieces of glass. If you’re making simple decorations, you might have time to make more than one, but it does take longer than you think!

Then choose from our wide range of coloured glass & cut it to size and shape before learning the “Tiffany” technique of applying copper foil. This is really relaxing when you get the hang of it.

You’ll then solder your panel together. You can choose whether to leave the solder its natural silvery colour or use a patina to make it coppery again or black.

What will I take home with me?

You will make either a decorative panel up to A4 in size, with up to ten pieces, or one or more glass decorations (depending how complicated they are). The shape is entirely up to you. People with previous experience can make a more complex panel, something with more pieces or more Christmas decorations. It depends whether you want to make something to keep on show all year round, or something to unpack and enjoy each Christmas.

What’s included in the cost?

All materials and use of all tools are included, together with lunches and refreshments both days. Special diets can be catered for if you let us know in advance. Christmassy nibbles may make an appearance!
