Soldering a copper foiled Tiffany swan copper light together

Tiffany stained glass for Christmas weekend course

Tiffany stained glass for Christmas weekend course 10am to 5pm (approx.); £150 per person.

This copper foiled stained glass for Christmas course is perfect for beginners and those with a little experience that they’d like to build on. Come and make something Christmassy with us! If you’re looking forward to cobserving Hannukah instead, you’re equally welcome.

What’s involved?

If you’re new to stained glass, we’ll teach you to cut and shape glass with confidence.

Next you get to design your own stained glass cartoon (template), so your creation will be completely unique. (If this sounds scary, you can bring a few that you’ve seen elsewhere, to help you, as the student in our photo did. Some old Christmas cards can also be helpful for giving you ideas.) In two days you’ll have time to make one item containing up to ten pieces of glass or a couple of simpler things- it takes longer than you think!

Then choose from our wide range of coloured glass & cut it to size and shape before learning the “Tiffany” technique of applying copper foil. This is really relaxing when you get the hang of it.

You’ll then solder your panel together. You can choose whether to leave the solder its natural silvery colour or use a patina to make it coppery again or black.

What will I take home with me?

You will make either a decorative panel up to A4 in size, with up to ten pieces or one or more hanging decorations (depending on complexity). The shape is entirely up to you. People with previous experience can make a more complex panel or something with more pieces. Angels are popular on this course, but funky snowmen and penguins have also been known!

What’s included in the cost?

All materials and use of all tools are included, together with lunches and refreshments both days. Special diets can be catered for if you let us know in advance.
