Stained glass appliqué creative day in the Kent Downs AONB – £100 pp
Join us for a stained glass appliqué creative day in our glass studio. We’re nestled in the Kent Downs AONB. Stained glass appliqué (also known as stained glass mosaic) is a beautiful and eco friendly craft using leftovers from stained glass making which would otherwise be thrown away. Come and join us for a creative experience day to remember.
Stained glass appliqué is a great way to make art from glass offcuts. It makes something beautiful out of what would otherwise go into landfill! It also makes a perfect creative staycation too, in the delightful medieval village of Chilham, near Canterbury in Kent.
What does it cost?
Your stained glass appliqué creative day, including all materials, lunch and refreshments costs just £100 per person. There are no single supplements either.
What’s stained glass appliqué?
Also known as stained glass mosaic, it’s a style of glass art that uses offcuts of stained glass that would otherwise be wasted. Instead you get to transform them into a work of art to take home and treasure. The light will be able to flood through your finished creation, painting your home with ever changing colours and patterns of light as the sun moves.
There’s more information here.
What can I make?
In a day, you can make either a rectangular panel of around A5 size or a little larger or a long, slim suncatcher with a hanging loop. Your creation can be decorated with an almost unlimited number of pieces of coloured and textured stained glass. Glass cutting is entirely optional; you can make something absolutely beautiful from our huge range of pre-cut pieces of glass.
Is there an age limit?
Under-18s (and over 80s too!) can take part, if they’re safe handling sharp pieces of glass. Under-18s need to be accompanied by a responsible adult who’s also taking part.
Where are you and how do I get there?
We’re on the A252 in Chilham, midway between Ashford (Kent), Canterbury and Faversham. We’re a 15 minute stroll from Chilham railway station (for services between London, Canterbury & Ramsgate; change at Ashford if you’re catching the high speed train out of London). Chilham is also served by a number of buses from Ashford and Canterbury and is a short way from national cycle route 18.
If you’re coming to enjoy the area for several days, do bring your walking shoes & / or your cycle. Beautiful Chilham village is on the Pilgrims’ Way & the North Downs Way, long distance footpaths with stunning views. It has lots of other walking and cycling routes too.
