Escaping the pressures life on a Glass Fusing Lent Retreat

Glass Fusing Lent Retreat – a quiet day with the chance to create something in fused glass. £119 per person

Join us for our 2022 Glass Fusing Lent Retreat on Monday 28th March. Take time to unwind, to focus on Jesus and on yourself, while learning to create some glass art for yourself or a loved one.

Who’s the retreat for?

You don’t have to be a Christian to attend, but this day is primarily a creative retreat day specifically for Lent, with prayer from Celtic Daily Prayer by the Northumbria Community. You’re equally welcome whether you’re a “Christmas and Easter” Christian, a regular church or chapel goer, a pastor or an archbishop!

Our Chilham studio is nestled in the Kent Downs area of outstanding natural beauty, with far-reaching views from the large windows, so it’s not difficult to be inspired by the beauty of God’s creation. Take time for yourself, to contemplate and to create. We’ll be on hand to give you as much (or as little) guidance as you need with your creations.

What about lunch?

Enjoy a home cooked lunch with us. Refreshments and lunch are included in the cost. Special diets aren’t a problem provided that you let us know in advance. (Don’t forget to tell us if you’ve given up chocolate or croissants for Lent!) You’ll also have the use of our well-equipped studio, plenty of greenhouse glass for your first (practise?) creation & enough Bullseye glass to make something up to 20 x 20cm in size (more glass can be purchased if you’d like to make something bigger).

What can I make on your Glass Fusing Lent Retreat?

You choose what to make. Perhaps you’d like to create a window hanger / suncatcher, a candle holder, a set of coasters or (as one of our stained glass students has suggested) a kiln-carved labyrinth?

Do I take my creations home with me?

Not on the day- no. They’ll go into the kiln and will need around 24 hours to fuse and cool. If you’re making something 3D, it’ll then need to go back into the kiln on a mould for another 24 hours or so, to be slumped. After that you’re welcome either to collect your creations or to pay for us to post them on to you. P&P is usually around £7, most of which is for packaging to keep your creations safe.
