Soldering a copper foiled Tiffany swan copper light together

Copper lights stained glass two day course for beginners and improvers

Tiffany stained glass copper lights two day course 10am to 5pm (approx.); £150 per person.

A copper foiled stained glass course perfect for beginners and those with a little experience that they’d like to build on.

What’s involved?

If you’re new to stained glass, you’ll start by learning to cut and shape glass with confidence.

Next you get to design your own stained glass cartoon (template), so your creation will be completely unique. (If this sounds scary, you can bring a few that you’ve seen elsewhere, to help you, as the student in our photo did.) In two days you’ll have time to make a panel containing ten pieces of glass- it takes longer than you think!

Then choose from our wide range of coloured glass & cut it to size and shape before learning the “Tiffany” technique of applying copper foil. This is really relaxing when you get the hang of it.

You’ll then solder your panel together. You can choose whether to leave the solder its natural silvery colour or use a patina to make it coppery again or black.

What will I take home with me?

Expect to make a decorative panel up to A4 in size, with up to ten pieces; the shape is entirely up to you. People with previous experience can make a more complex panel or something with more pieces. Recent students have made some beautiful swans; landscapes and sunsets are always popular too.

What’s included in the cost?

All materials and use of all tools are included, together with lunches and refreshments both days. Special diets can be catered for if you let us know in advance.
